Korban tertimpa pohon selama hampir 2 jam bersama sepeda motornya jenis matic merek Honda Beat bernomor polisi DC 2540 BJ sebelum bisa dievakuasi.
Warga yang hendak menolong korban tak bisa berbuat apa-apa lantaran badan korban tertindih pohon kelapa sepanjang 50 meter lebih.
Evakuasi korban berjalan dramatis.
Karena tak punya chainsaw atau mesin pemotong pohon kelapa, warga terpaksa mendatangkan alat berat untuk menyingkirkan pohon kelapa yang menindih tubuh korban bersama motor yang dikemudikannya.
Setelah hampir 2 jam tertindih pohon kelapa bersama sepeda motornya, korban yang belakangan diketahui bernama Amira Amir (29), warga Kelurahan Madatte, Kecamatan Polewali, ini baru dievakuasi setelah alat berat yang didatangkan berhasil mengangkat pohon kelapa dan menggesernya ke sisi jalan.

Warga pun bergotong-royong mengevekuasi jasad korban bersama motornya ke sisi jalan.
Setelah itu, jasad korban dibawa ke rumah duka, tak jauh dari lokasi kejadian.

Warga setempat, Busman, mengatakan, saat kejadian, angin tidak terlalu kencang, namun diduga pohon kelapa yang tumbang tersebut telah rapuh dimakan usia.
“Mungkin pohonnya sudah lapuk karena sebagian batangnya sudah keropos. Waktu kejadian angin tidak terlalu kencang,” kata Busman.
Jalan yang dilalui korban merupakan jalan pintas dari lokasi perumahan menuju ke perkampungan warga sekitarnya.
Aparat kepolisian setempat menyelidiki penyebab tumbangnya pohon kelapa tua tersebut dan mengumpulkan keterangan saksi sejumlah warga di sekitar lokasi kejadian.
