Walau usia telah senja, tidak menyurutkan niat kakek ini untuk menyelesaikan kuliahnya di sebuah perguruan tinggi.



La Ode Muhamad Sidik, seorang kakek berusia 85 tahun di Kota Baubau, Sulawesi Tenggara, berhasil menyelesaikan kuliah program strata 1 dan menjadi peserta wisudawan dengan nilai indeks prestasi kumulatif (IPK) 3,5.
Senyum semringah terpancar di wajah kakek yang telah mempunyai 15 cucu dan tiga orang cicit ketika ditemui di rumahnya, di Kelurahan Wameo, Kecamatan Batupoaro, Kota Baubau, Senin (18/11/2019) siang.
“Pertama lega sekali perasaan, tapi di samping itu saya sudah di usia lanjut, tapi perasaan itu senang,” kata La Ode Muhamad Sidik.
La Ode Muhamad Sidik masuk kuliah di Universitas Muhamadiyah Buton tahun 2012 di Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan dalam Program Studi Bahasa dan Sastra Indonesia.
Ia tidak minder dan malu menjalani kuliah dalam satu kelas bersama anak mahasiswa dengan umur terpaut jauh darinya.
Bahkan, dosen yang selama ini mengajarinya merupakan anak didiknya waktu SMP.
“Memang saya gurunya, tapi saya menjaga wibawa mereka. Jadi dalam dialog ala kadarnya saja supaya teman mahasiswa yang muda tidak ada pikiran yang tidak sehat,” ujarnya.
Dalam kurun waktu tujuh tahun, ia berhasil menyelesaikan kuliahnya dengan judul skripsi “Mengkaji Sastra Indonesia dalam Puisi Wolio Buton”.

“Motivasi saya kuliah karena anak-anak saya, anak saya yang pertama almarhum yang mengatakan jangan hanya sampai diploma tiga. Saya bilang bisa saja asal diterima, jadi anak saya yang mengurusnya (masuk perguruan tinggi),” ucap La Ode Muhamad Sidik.
Setelah menyelesaikan studinya, La Ode Muhamad Sidik kini kembali menjalani aktivitasnya dengan menjual pulsa dan perlengkapan ponsel di depan rumahnya.

Sementara itu, putri kedua La Ode Muhamad Sidik, Wa Ode Ronawati, mengaku sangat bangga atas keberhasilan ayahnya yang menyelesaikan kuliahnya.
“Bangga dan senang karena sisa usianya yang sudah senja dan sakit-sakitan masih bisa meraih mimpinya,” kata Wa Ode Rosnawati.
Ia menambahkan, keberhasilan ayahnya mendapat gelar sarjana dapat menjadi motivasi bagi dirinya dan keluarga yang lainnya untuk terus melanjutkan pendidikan.
